The Hawks Nest has only one purpose, to establish the BEST organized student fan section in all of the NCAA. Organized student fan sections help both students and adults enjoy a better atmosphere during all sporting events, and also creates a better atmosphere for the university as a whole. With the students support, we hope the Hawks Nest will be one of the greatest student sections in the nation; a student section that represents all of Hawkeye Nation.
Our athletes thrive off of fan support, and that is what we want to offer every single team at UI. When a student section is loud, unique, and well represented, it can do wonders for our beloved Hawkeyes, and we’ve seen what it can do first hand (i.e. Penn State 2008, Michigan 2009). An effective student section not only makes the game day experience more exciting, but it can also help motivate and push our athletes to levels that some might think unimaginable.
Students of the University of Iowa who attend Hawks Nest Meetings and participate in the Hawks Nest student section will not only have a better game day experience, but they will have opportunities that others will not be able to have. All students that join our group will be able to enhance their overall “fandom”, as well as receiving exclusive offers and giveaways other students cannot get, such as: away game bus trips for football and basketball games, exclusive Hawks Nest merchandise, meet and greets with coaches, players, and other people inside the Athletic department, free food at meetings, and dinner with coaches and players, to name a few.
So we are reaching out to all of the students that are a part of, and who are going to be apart of Hawkeye Nation. We, together, can make an impact on athletics that has never been seen before at the University of Iowa. The tides are changing for the better and right now is one of the greatest times to be a Hawkeye.
So join us in support of all that is Hawkeye. Together, we can all rise up and become a nationally recognized fan section that rivals the likes of the Cameron Crazies of Duke, the Orange Krush of Illinois, and the Paint Crew of Purdue. Together we can not only become nationally recognized, but we can become the best student section in the nation.
Hawkeye athletes and coaches deserve a bigger and better fan, and we are going to give it to them. We may not be on the field, court, or pitch with the players, but that does not mean we as a student section have little effect on a game. In fact, we would argue strongly that we have as strong of a role as the players that we are routing for. But to achieve our goals, we need you, the students, to help us. We need you to join us at our events, meetings, and gatherings and give us feedback, ideas, and support.
Every sports fan dreams of being on the field with their favorite player. Every sports fan dreams of having a lasting effect on the games they watch. Well, we are here to tell you that those goals are not out of reach. That is what the Hawks Nest wants to do, and will do. Together.
